Modern Dating

A thriller that delves into a chilling blind date.
3/5

Review

Roderick Evans’ ‘Modern Dating’ has some promising elements, but ultimately falls short in delivering a true horror-thriller experience. While Tara Slagle gives a valiant effort as the lead, her character lacks the complexity required to anchor such a story, and overall, the acting falls a bit flat. However, the cinematography is a high-point of the film, with great use of lighting to capture the threatening air of the protagonist’s surroundings.

Unfortunately, while the film may be based on a true story, it feels unfinished and lacking in payoff. The narrative fails to fully deliver the tense, terror-filled tone that the concept promises, and the climax is particularly disappointing in its lack of emotional resonance.

Overall, ‘Modern Dating’ is not without its merit, and the cinematography is a highlight, but the film struggles to create a believable and satisfying portrayal of the horrors of a blind date.
