The Short of the Year Award 2023 was an accolade that honoured an exceptional short film, released and submitted to Short Films Matter in 2023.

Voting Process:

The process began with the longlisting of 203 films that met the eligibility criteria. These films were open to public voting through their respective review pages on Short Films Matter.

Longlist Public voting concluded on February 29th, and the top 15 voted films were revealed as the finalists on March 1st, 2024.

The final films continued to be open for public voting until March 9th, 2024, with previous votes being carried over from the longlist.

The winner was revealed on March 10th, 2024.

Eligibility:

Films that were eligible were released and submitted to Short Films Matter in 2023. and received a rating of 4 or 5 stars from our critics.

Films submitted after December 31st, 2023, were not eligible for the Short of the Year Award 2023. However, they will be eligible for consideration the following year.

Recognition:

The winner of Short of the Year 2023 will be bestowed with a special laurel badge and a trophy, symbolizing their outstanding achievement in short filmmaking.
