Directed by Riky Bains, from a production by The XP Club, ‘The Story of the White Masai’ is a short travel documentary that explores the culture and traditions of Tanzania – assembled to inspire globetrotters to discover the East-African nation. Documented by The XP Club team member Efro, the short uncovers the local the agriculture, beauty-spots and cuisine – with interviews from local communities in Tanzania.
In spite of the film’s vlog-esque production style, the cinematography is admirably crafted with color-rich grading that helps to unveil the country’s natural beauty. Europe born-and-raised Efro, nicknamed “The White Masai”, absorbs himself in Tanzania’s way of life – which makes for endearing viewing. Efro’s unwavering enthusiasm is certain to charm and entertain viewers.
The local people, who feature throughout, give a captivating insight into the rich culture of Tanzania – proudly showcasing their homeland without apprehension or shyness. The XP Club production has achieved its goal in illuminating the African paradise – which will hopefully inspire and encourage the traveling community to visit. Technically, sound and cinematography are well executed from start-to-finish and is wrapped up with fast-paced and snappy post-production (including neat transitions). The musical soundtrack is equally commendable – aiding the overall adventurous tone. A decent watch.
