Carlo Olivares Paganoni’s short fantasy-comedy offers a delightful escape into the world of a young man’s overworked mind as Kyle Kwon, portraying Wyo, navigates the pressures of his job and an unappreciative boss, played by Edward L. Green. Faced with mental fatigue, Wyo finds solace and inspiration in his vivid fantasies centered around Dawn, the girl on his calendar, brought to life by Catherine Masters.
The film skillfully captures the contrast between the dull reality of Wyo’s work life and the vibrant, imaginative world he creates in his mind. Kyle Kwon’s performance effectively conveys the protagonist’s sense of being undervalued and unfulfilled, adding depth to the humor that pervades the narrative.
Despite its low-budget nature, Jon Jon Augustavo’s cinematography stands out, utilizing both black and white and color to visually accentuate Wyo’s mental state. The eccentric yet neatly crafted storytelling, coupled with good performances, adds a humorous touch to the film. Paganoni successfully infuses the narrative with a sense of whimsy, encouraging viewers to reflect on the importance of pursuing one’s dreams, even in the face of a demanding and monotonous reality.
