Written and directed by Tsuneo Goda, ‘Mogu and Perol’ is a short stop-motion animated comedy that explores the boundaries of friendship. Beautifully animated by Hiro Minegishi, Yukari Kakiuchi and Kenta Shinohara, with cinematography by Takamitsu Suzuki, this child-friendly film is packed full of comedy and charm – which is certain to put a smile on your face. The short opens with Mogu (voiced by Tsuneo Goda) cooking/preparing delicious food – which attracts the attention of excitable friend, Perol (voiced by Remi Hayashi). Act 1 showcases a sequence of Mogu cooking for Perol – who only shows up for food and leaves once finished. The fragile friendship is tested in Act 2 when Perol eats sickening berries from a local tree, accusing Mogu of deception/trickery. Act 3 explores the mending of friendship. Albeit a simple plot, the storyline is highly entertaining and promises an abundance of emotions.
