In *Little Somethin’*, Harrison Martin takes us on an absurd, hilarious ride that’s as much about quirky characters as it is about a jar of air. Joe (played by Martin) is having the kind of 27th birthday where life feels like one disappointment after another. And then, Jose (Patrick Parker), his vibrant, naked, and delightfully weird flatmate, armed with a special present: a jar of air from Iceland. You can’t help but love how Parker completely owns the offbeat energy of Jose. His carefree, uninhibited personality is the perfect foil to Joe’s weary existence.
The film’s magic lies in its simplicity, with character contrast doing most of the heavy lifting. Joe’s complete disdain for Jose is never overtly stated, but it seeps through every awkward exchange, every resigned glance.
