Christopher Eadicicco’s 8-minute drama short delves viewers into the personal struggles of a post-war US Army Ranger. Morgan Nichols grips the audience with his portrayal of Jeremy, a returning soldier who is faced with psychological torment and his incapability to adjust to civilian life.
Directed by Eadicicco from a screenplay by Alexandra Rivera, ‘Waiting for the Sun’ takes an unvarnished look into PTSD (Post Traumatic Stress Disorder). The narrative explores Jeremy’s emotional disconnect with his loved ones, drug and alcohol abuse – whilst intercutting to his therapy sessions with Dr. Wexford (Margaret Reed). Jeremy is psychological haunted by the accidental death of two Iraqi girls whilst on duty. The short film succeeds by delivering an authentic narrative, held strong by a truly outstanding performance by Morgan Nichols (Jeremy).
Cinematography by Mattison Stanton is of an exceptional standard, aiding the narrative movingly. Sound, editing and lighting equally bring truth – resulting in a high-quality professional finish. ‘Waiting for the Sun’ doesn’t shy away from exploring our protagonist’s inner turmoil’s – highlighted by his practicing of aggressive sex (partial nudity) coupled with his depressive anxiety, guilt and shame. Christopher Eadicicco and his cast/crew have delivered an important mental-health film that candidly lives up to reality. We highly recommended this short film.
