Eat Me, Baby!

A bloody tale of vengeance, where horror meets humor during a date night.
4/5

Review

‘Eat Me, Baby!’ is a bite-sized horror treat that sinks its teeth into the theme of betrayal and revenge with gusto. Directed by Lucca Vieira and penned by Kyra Richardson, the film follows Celeste (Emma Harris) as she navigates the aftermath of being drugged by her date, Lester (Matthew Carder). Determined to exact vengeance, Celeste enlists the help of her roommates, portrayed by Haley Utnehmer and Jolene Mafnas, in a gory and slasher-filled quest for justice.

What stands out most in this short film is its strong female cast and empowering message, cleverly woven into the sinister narrative. While the narrative feels somewhat fleeting and could benefit from further exploration of the characters, the respectable acting performances keeps viewers engaged throughout.

Filmed entirely in one location, the short boasts a vampire-esque atmosphere, amplified by its praiseworthy cinematography courtesy of Elizabeth Goodwin. The film’s editing is seamless, providing a quality finish that enhances the visual experience.

‘Eat Me, Baby!’ succeeds in its ability to inject moments of comedy without sacrificing the tension of its horror elements. It strikes a delicate balance, never taking itself too seriously while still delivering on the promise of gory scenes that fans of the genre will undoubtedly relish.

While it may leave audiences craving a deeper exploration of its characters, its strong performances, commendable cinematography, and blend of horror and humor make it a satisfying and entertaining short overall.
