An experimental docu-drama about the Cuban Revolution.
2/5

Review

Directed by Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella, ‘Post Meridiem (In Full Color)’ is an experimental docudrama that delves into the Cuban Revolution of the 1950s. Utilizing archive footage, the film tackles the rise of Fidel Castro, his lover Marita Lorenz, and Reinaldo Arenas – a fierce critic of Castro. The docudrama stars Anthony Ayala, Camila Pagán, Max Edelstein and Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella. In spite of the films low-grade production quality, the film is neatly crafted and principally educational.

Throughout the 11-minute film, Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella performs several musical tracks – which is intertwined with classic footage of the era, Castro’s infamous speech and his private conversations with Martia Lorenz. The film is partially a reenactment of well-documented events.

Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella has delivered an acceptable first time production. Despite amateur performances by the cast, the docudrama will enlighten viewers about the history of Cuba’s political instability. The film is produced in the Spanish language, with English subtitles available throughout. A fascinating watch. Cinematography, sound and post-production is a little off-putting at times, but the overall narrative is adequate enough. Krystell Susana Santiago Estrella deserves a nod for her introduction to filmmaking and her endearing vocality.
