Mario Hipleh’s short documentary serves as a heartfelt tribute to his godfather, the renowned Hollywood photographer Peter Borsari, a luminary of the New Hollywood era whose lens captured the essence of the industry’s golden years. The film unfolds as a labor of love, with Hipleh’s narrative journey heightened by interviews with those who knew Borsari best, creating a rich tapestry of insights into the man behind the camera. As the documentary pays homage to Borsari’s craftsmanship and unwavering dedication to his art, it seamlessly weaves together well-shot visuals and nicely framed moments that bring the vibrancy of Hollywood’s past to life.

Borsari’s posthumous presence is vividly awakened through Hipleh’s lens, celebrating not only the man but also the era he immortalized. ‘Hello Peter!’ stands as a poignant and compelling ode, honoring the enduring legacy of a photographer whose work remains an integral part of Hollywood’s visual history.

Brief Synopsis

Peter Borsari was one of the few celebrity photographers in Hollywood. He worked non-stop for about 30 years and helped shaping the term “event-photography”.  In April 2012, I travelled with my film equipment to Los Angeles to find with the help of his archive, his friends and colleagues the person behind the camera. This film is a retrospective of his work and gives a glance into the golden dream factory between 1970 and 1985.
