Review

Written and directed by Ethan Marth, ‘We Band of Brothers’ is a short sci-fi drama that follows a group of US space militia on a rescue mission to Titan (Saturn’s Moon). The futuristic short consists of a wide cast ensemble and is set in the year 2310. The film explores themes of survival, brotherhood, friendship and hope.

The 22-minute film opens aboard a space shuttle, where we are introduced to several young commandos of the United Space Corp. On a mission to rescue their own men, the shuttle lands on Titan, where a fight against an alien enemy intervenes in their quest. The team battle against the odds to fight off the antagonists in an effort to save the stranded engineers.

Despite delivering outstanding costume/production design, the film fails to deliver on high quality special effects – which may lose audience engagement. Cinematography is of an acceptable standard throughout, but interior scenes of the shuttle are degraded by inadequate lighting – which gives off a low production value. Narratively, the storyline is weak – with uninspiring characterization throughout. Cast performances are equally feeble. Sound and editing require reworking. Ethan Marth (Writer/Director) seams to have focused too much on the visual concept, rather than building a solid plotline with intriguing characters. A tedious watch.
