Directed by Winter Dunn, from a script by Charmaine Cleveland, ‘Dear Mama…’ is a short drama film that explores the conflict between a father and his daughter after the death of his wife. The film is set in the wake of the murder of Tupac Shakur and explores themes of grief and family. Mikayla Lashae Bartholomew leads the cast as Tanisha, with Garland Scott as her father, Nate. A poignant drama that delves into the emotional struggles of bereavement and the different routes grief take us.

The 14-minute film opens with Tanisha packing up her bedroom for relocation. After her mother’s recent passing, a news report announcing the death of Tupac triggers her loss further – bringing tension into the relationship with her father.
