The Night That Krampus Came

A festive-themed horror inspired by the mythological monster Krampus.
2/5

Review

Bradley Jack Williams’ Christmas-themed horror, anchored in themes of grief, loneliness, and myth, follows a despondent young man, portrayed earnestly by Charlie Edwards, as he faces a bleak Christmas Eve. Corey Lynes adds a chilling touch as Krampus, the mythological antagonist, alongside Thomas Nash and Kat Logan. The film delves into the isolation of grief, capturing the protagonist’s sense of neglect at Christmas.

While the narrative promises depth, the film struggles with its home movie aesthetics and unconvincing acting, hindering the overall cinematic experience. Production values fall short of creating a truly immersive atmosphere, leaving the audience yearning for a more polished presentation.

Despite these challenges, the film’s plot manages to sustain interest, offering a riveting story that keeps viewers engaged. However, it would greatly benefit from heightened fright sequences, injecting a much-needed punch of horror to elevate the film’s impact.

Williams’ short showcases potential in its storyline, but its execution falters due to its amateurish style. With improved production quality and more compelling performances, the film could transform into a more immersive and chilling festive horror tale, offering a more satisfying viewing experience.
