A mainstream audience may find the film mystifying, which is possibly Bierma’s intention. ‘Weirdest Ritual’ deserves appreciation for its complexity and unique artistry. The sense of loneliness, isolation and desire for affection appears to be the core storyline – but that could easily be debated. An intriguing video from start to finish. Highly recommended for fans of experimental narratives.
