A seedy crime film that delves into revenge and female empowerment.

Review

‘Vicious Cycle’, directed by Millie X and written by D. Wade, takes viewers on a thrilling and gritty journey into the underground world of Las Vegas. With a cast led by the mesmerizing April Lynn as Charm, a cunning Vegas stripper, this short crime drama explores revenge, empowerment, and the fine line between manipulation and self-preservation.

The story centers around Charm’s elaborate game, as she cons a dangerous drug dealer, portrayed convincingly by Oba Aswad. However, as Charm’s plan unravels, she realizes she needs assistance from her ex-partner, played by D. Wade. The narrative is captivating, filled with unexpected twists that keep audiences on the edge of their seats.

Visually, the cinematography is outstanding, capturing the raw and seedy essence of the Las Vegas underworld. The scenes are meticulously crafted, bringing an authentic and dark atmosphere to the screen. Unfortunately, the impact of the cinematography is slightly diminished by sound issues, which detract from the overall viewing experience.

Furthermore, the incidental music, while adding a unique flair, occasionally veers into a music video vibe, momentarily overshadowing the plot. However, this stylistic choice only serves to enhance the film’s pulsating energy and adds an extra layer of depth to Charm’s character.

Though the acting is reasonable, it falls short of greatness, leaving room for more nuanced performances in future projects. ‘Vicious Cycle’ is a captivating piece that pulls viewers into an underground world filled with revenge and deception, leaving will leave viewers eager for more.
