Schuyler’s performance is engaging and thought-provoking, and the film expertly captures the nuances of living with anxiety and overwhelming junctures of depression. Garrett Gallego’s unconventional storytelling serves the intriguing and symbolic imagery and opens the viewer to their interpretation.
The short runtime of the film excellently compels the viewer into the project— a shift in scenes and events quickly occurring and taking the audience on an artistic romantic journey directed around the protagonist’s unpredictable twists and turns.
The technical quality of the production is somewhat low-budget, but it does not take away from the beauty of the film, which culminates in an enrapturing viewing experience. Overall, ‘Abandon’ is not suitable for everyone’s taste with its experimental style; nonetheless, it is an immersive and captivating journey full of artistic flair and refreshing storytelling.
