Alexia Remoleux’s short drama film is a haunting exploration of the devastating effects of narcissistic abuse. The plot follows Chloe, a vulnerable young woman who finds herself homeless after a breakup. Sara, seemingly kind and supportive at first, offers her a place to stay. However, as their friendship deepens, it becomes clear that Sara has a darker side: she begins to devalue, control, gaslight, and manipulate Chloe in subtle yet devastating ways. Through this toxic relationship, the film exposes the all-consuming power dynamics of narcissistic abuse, leaving both Chloe and the viewer reeling.
The acting in this film is incredibly powerful, with Georgia Sansom delivering a stunning performance as the tormented Chloe. Dolores Devaujany is equally excellent as the charming yet dangerous Sara. The film’s production is also of a high quality, with Will Poole’s cinematography effectively capturing the oppressive atmosphere of the story.
Overall, this is a riveting and thought-provoking film that shines a light on a rarely discussed yet increasingly prevalent issue. Although it is set in London, the film is entirely in French with English subtitles.
