Written and directed by Miles Keith Perdue, ‘The Ultimatum’ is a short drama that explores loyalty and betrayal amongst a group of friends. Miles Perdue stars as Brandon, a long-standing friend to Ian (David Rand) and Taylor (Amber Reign Smith). Himie Freeman stars as Taylor’s new boyfriend Jordan – the narrative antagonist. The drama uncovers Taylor’s criminal background that puts the group of friends into a life-changing dilemma.

The 29-minute short opens with the murder of a young man, with the perpetrator’s identity masked by a balaclava. We are then introduced to Brandon and Ian as they discuss the upcoming New Year and Taylor’s new boyfriend. Later, Taylor introduces Jordan to Brandon and Ian, much to Brandon’s reservations. As the police pull over Brandon’s car, the group enter a period of conflict that tests their friendship, integrity and ethics.

Miles Keith Perdue has created a stirring short that examines the unfamiliarity of a stranger and the consequences that ensues. The entire cast deliver exceptional performances that will captivate the audience throughout. Cinematography, sound and editing are of outstanding quality – expect a highly professional finish. Unexpectedly however, the drama concludes with a cliff-hanger, teasing viewers for a return to the narrative. A gripping watch. Highly recommended.
