Review

Directed by Jordan Sommerlad, from a script by Cory Stonebrook, ‘When This All Ends’ is a short dramedy that delves into the posthumous life of two sisters. The film stars Lizzy Miller (Tess), Tiffany Trainer (Gia), and Cory Stonebrook as James. The film explores themes of heartbreak, grief, sisterhood and the afterlife.

The 15-minute drama opens with two sisters, Tess and Gia, awaiting the arrival of a guest to their vacation home. As James enters the home, it becomes apparent that the sisters are cannot be heard or seen. James, on the other hand, is a heartbroken writer who retreats to the house to find creative inspiration and solitude. The narrative delves into the life-steeling tragedy that subsumes the siblings as they observe the living with envy. A poignant, albeit endearing watch.

Jordan Sommerland (Director) and Cory Stonebrook (Writer) have created a captivating film that provokes the viewer to embrace the wonders of life whilst they have it. Lizzy Miller and Tiffany Trainer deliver exceptional performances throughout – their characters are charming, funny and a little eerie. Cory Stonebrook’s portrayal as James is equally commendable. Cinematography is of a high standard from the get go, with decent quality sound and post-production. Highly recommended.
