Shamanic Way

A fascinating documentary about one mans journey into Shamanism.
4/5

Review

Directed by Yasaman Razzazi, ‘Shamanic Way’ is a short documentary that follows Günther Kreuzer, an Austrian shaman known as Morsuk Kam. The film explores themes of nature, spirituality and community. Shamanism is a religious practice that involves a practitioner interacting with what they believe to be a spirit world through altered states of consciousness, such as trance. The film is in the German language with English subtitles.

The 17-minute film opens with Morsuk revealing his pedestrian lifestyle prior to his spiritual conversion. In 2010, Morsuk battled with his life purpose during dead-end employment. The relentless routine of the modern-day work force crippled his sense of happiness and fulfilment. In an effort to seek an authentic purpose he became a paramedic, but the haywire of contemporary health care led him to the alternative healing practice of Shamanism. We learn of his journey to India, his introduction to his wife, and his involvement with the Spirit of Wolf Community. An insightful watch from start-to-finish.

Yasaman Razzazi (Director) has created a beguiling film that with dignity and respect showcases an alternative spirituality. Morsuk gives a compelling interview throughout and invites viewers to witness his Shaman practices. ‘Sharmanic Way’ is shot in high quality with professional cinematography, sound and editing. An enthralling documentary. Highly recommended.
