Just Go For IT

A coming-of-age tale about teenage infatuation.
3/5

Review

Tyrell McIntyre’s short coming-of-age drama film is a delightful and relatable exploration of teenage infatuation, anxiety and fear of humiliation. The film’s central character, Declan, played excellently by Chase Slovak, is a shy high-schooler with a crush on Grace, played by Aida Leventaki. The film follows his journey as he nervously tries to ask her out to the prom amidst competition from a more self-assured classmate.

The cinematography by Jin Hoon Yeo is exceptional, capturing the chaos of high school, before transitioning to more steady shots as the narrative progresses. The sound design and editing are also noteworthy, building suspense and capturing the mood of each scene.

The acting is great across the board, led by Dylan Slovak’s heartfelt and genuine portrayal of Declan. He’s supported by a talented cast who all perfectly capture the awkwardness and nervous energy of teens.

Overall, Tyrell McIntyre’s coming-of-age drama film is a heartwarming and honest examination of teenage love and the vulnerabilities and anxieties that often come with it. With excellent cinematography, sound design, and acting, the film is sure to leave a mark on viewers while reminding them of their own teenage years. A nice and relatable work that many will enjoy.
