4/5

Review

Directed by Tony McGee from a screenplay by lead actor Max McGee, ‘Thames’ is a thriller short film that promises suspense, political conspiracy and a mammoth twist. Max McGee stars as Detective Chief Inspector Price – who is interrogating a suspect regarding a Brexit attack on London. The entire film is stylistic shot in black and white.

The 14-min film is set in a government rehabilitation center, where DCI Price questions an unseen face. We learn through the course of the interrogation that all is not as Price understands. The suspect informs him of political conspiracy – the British establishment and his own colleagues are behind the up-coming attack.

Tony McGee has delivered a visually artistic film that is inspired by film noir. Max McGee’s portrayal is intense and captivating throughout – an actor to keep an eye on. Narratively, the storyline brings dramatic tension and suspense from the off-set and will certainly keep you engaged till the end. Cinematography from Tony McGee (Director) is equally praiseworthy and rewards viewers outstanding shots of the London skyline and River Thames. Visual effects bring high drama and believability – notably during the narrative twist.

‘Thames’ is the third and final film in McGee Film’s award-winning ‘London Trilogy’.
