Review

‘MIB: Neuralize This!’, written and directed by Martin Sofiedal, is a fast, funny and impressively produced ‘Men in Black’ fan film that delivers both spectacle and charm without ever taking itself too seriously. Opening with a high-energy chase through a parking garage, Agent A (Torgny Gerhard Aanderaa) and Agent M (Cecilie Svendsen) find themselves toe-to-toe with a suspiciously twitchy man who’s clearly more than he seems – or at least trying to be.

Shot by Øyvind Svanes Lunde with slick camera work, the film nails the look and feel of the franchise it riffs on. The VFX by Gimpville are tight and convincing, the fight choreography solid, and the editing keeps everything moving with the rhythm of a well-tuned action comedy. The scene-stealer in a gum-chewing little girl (Lijana Brahimi) who plays it with just the right amount of mischief.

As the encounter escalates, things get weird, then weirder. What starts as a tense alien standoff becomes a farcical twist that leans right into the franchise’s original comedic DNA.

The comedic timing lands well throughout, from the perfectly executed neuralyzer malfunction to the absurd reveal of the so-called weapon. It all builds to the final beat – an unexpected muscled man that ties the chaos together with just the right touch of ridiculous.

Performances are playful and self-aware, with Agents A and M balancing badass and baffled like pros. The whole piece is paced for maximum fun and never over does it.

‘MIB: Neuralize This!’ is an entertaining fan film with real production skill and a clear affection for the source material. It’s funny, polished and full of energy – a genuine tribute. Sofiedal delivers with style, and the result is something that ‘Men in Black’ fans will appreciate.
